This song describes the funeral service for Jacques Higelin (French pop/rock star). It was a rainy day in Pere Lachaise cemetery, Paris, and thousands of fans attended to pay their respects. Some seemed to treat the event more as a social gathering, drinking champagne and laughing, but nevertheless there to pay their respects. The song is at once a hommage to Higelin and a commentary on the attendees. Great live sound, driving energy.

It was a long, slow, rainy old day
All your friends had gathered on the hill to pray
They sang your songs, they raised a toast
to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

I know a lot of people in this town
All the local crew they were hanging around
Even though they never knew that cat
They took the time to tip their hat.

Tip your hat to that
Tip your hat to that
Tip your hat to Jacques
Tip your hat to that

Stars they come and stars they go
How long they last we will never know
My little star is fading fast
Will soon become a thing of the past.

Tip your hat to that
Tip your hat to that
Tip your hat to Jacques
Tip your hat to that
